Ethics Learning Series Session 2 - Living Up to the Call for Transparency

Wednesday May 28; 12:00 – 1:30 pm ET / 9:00 - 10:30 pm PT / 7:00 - 8:30 pm Israel

In modeling healthy boundaries and ethical behavior, it is imperative that rabbis implement the principles of observable and interruptible in their daily interactions in both their personal and professional lives. This session will explore the foundation that Vayikra lays for transparency as well as the balance and tension in the two concepts of “calling out” and “drawing close.” Rabbis will gain a deeper understanding of the guiding principles of observable and interruptible and practice their application to a variety of situations including interactions with youth, colleagues, and community members, and explore how to apply them in scenarios where there can be an opportunity for misuse of finances. During the session, rabbis will also discuss how to maintain the principles in a rabbinic role where confidentiality and privacy are often hallmarks of a pastoral relationship.
