Jonathan Meyer served as the General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security from 2021 - 2024, overseeing the 3,500 attorneys employed by DHS. He is a two-time recipient of the Secretary of Homeland Security’s Outstanding Service Medal, DHS’s highest civilian honor, along with the U.S. Secret Service Director’s Honor Award, the Customs and Border Protection Commissioner’s Ensign Award, and the U.S. Coast Guard Commandant’s Distinguished Service Medal, among numerous other awards and honors. He is currently the head of the National Security Team at Sheppard Mullin.
Jonathan Meyer is a graduate of Harvard University (BA), Columbia Law School (JD), and Princeton University (MPA). He is a native of Cincinnati and spent several years growing up in Jerusalem. He is a son of Prof. Michael Meyer and Rabbi Margaret Meyer.
