Using Modern Poetry in our Pastoral Work
Join us for a day of intense Torah learning and practical skills.
Our faculty will be Dr. Anne Lapidus Lerner - an emerita member of the Department of Jewish Literature at The Jewish Theological Seminary.
- In the morning we will look to deepen our understanding of the meaning, construct and purpose of Modern Hebrew poetry.
- In the afternoon a panel of chaplains will share with us best practices of how they use poetry in their pastoral settings.
Our goal is to move through text study to emotional analysis to empower us to replicate the process with any poem, to apply any of them to the range of real-life situations chaplains may encounter.
