Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism was established in 1995 with a handful of students, and has grown since then to more than 200 students annually in its year-long and summer learning programs;
Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva counts over 1800 alumni world-wide, a number that keeps rising each year and has established a special relationship with our most committed and best educated lay leaders;
Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva also enables Jews all over the world to engage in Torah lishmah learning through its on-line classes and E-shiurim on its website, which many colleagues already use as teaching materials in their congregations and schools;
Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva welcomes individuals and groups from Conservative congregations visiting Israel to study in its Beit Midrash, either in regular classes or by having a special shiur with a faculty member;
Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva welcomes RA members to study in its Beit Midrash; and
Whereas the Conservative Yeshiva offers special learning programs for Hillel staff, Jewish educators, youth directors and other Jewish professionals with the goal of enhancing their efforts to strengthen Jewish identity and Jewish communities.
Therefore be it resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly congratulate the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism on its founding of and offer continued support for the Conservative Yeshiva;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly and its members recognize the leading role that the Conservative Yeshiva plays in the area of intensive text study by lay people as a central goal and value of Conservative Judaism;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly strongly encourage all its members to make their constituents aware of the opportunities to study at the Conservative Yeshiva and to support this excellent project; and
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly urge its members to utilize the resources of the Conservative Yeshiva for text study, which will enhance Torah lishmah for the Jewish people.
