We are indebted to Rabbi Ed Feld, senior editor, who has lavished upon the creation of Siddur Lev Shalem his intellect, wisdom, heart and soul, not to mention the extraordinary depth of his Jewish learning. He has been hugely assisted by Rabbi Jan Uhrbach as associate editor and dedicated colleagues who comprised the siddur committee, all deeply committed to creating a Conservative prayer book uniquely appropriate for our time: Rabbis David Ackerman, Amy Wallk Katz, Alan Lettofsky and Rob Scheinberg, Cantor Joanna Dulkin and Rabbi Cantor Lilly Kaufman.
Siddur Lev Shalem includes the traditional liturgy along with historical commentary, readings and poems as well as a Shabbat ba’Bayit section with all the rituals, blessings and songs that are central to the home celebration of the Sabbath. In addition, an Appendix filled with songs and readings for the festivals also includes poems, meditations and blessings to celebrate the traditional moments in Jewish life as well as those that have become an essential part of contemporary life.
Listen to Senior Editor Ed Feld discuss some of the intricacies of the siddur.
