Shabbat
Jewish tradition considers Shabbat to be a foretaste of Paradise. Poets speak of this day as a bride and as a queen. In the Ten Commandments Shabbat is referred to as a reminder of both Creation and the Exodus from Egypt. The centrality of Shabbat is reflected in the Hebrew names for the days of the week, which are all related to Shabbat. Sunday, for example, is "the first day," Monday is "the second day," and so forth.
