As the crisis in Afghanistan continues, we are sharing two urgent actions for those in the U.S. to take. Both have very short circulation time frames – they each close this Friday, August 27 at 1:00 PM ET.
First, U.S.-based organizations are invited to sign this letter and join HIAS in urging President Biden to prioritize the safety of at-risk Afghans, including those who supported the US and international missions in Afghanistan for the last two decades; human rights activists, especially women and girls; journalists; and religious and ethnic minorities. HIAS is also calling on the administration to protect Afghans who are already in the United States. The letter is open to local, state, and national Jewish organizations so please share it widely.
Second, individuals may sign on to this action alert. HIAS will deliver both the letter and the petition on Monday, August 30.
