Whereas our Movement believes in the institution of conversion as an integral part of the Jewish faith, and a key issue in securing the mission and integrity of the Jewish People, and
Whereas the Rabbinical Assembly has developed and approved guidelines for long distance training for conversion and the work with Emerging Communities (communities that are made up mostly of converts to Judaism), and
Whereas the Conversion Review Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly has expressed its support and confirmed the good practices of giyyur among emerging communities in Latin America,
Therefore be it resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly applaud the innovative work of our colleagues with emerging communities, consistent with the standards of the Conversion Review Committee, and
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly encourage our kehillot and rabbis to learn more about the issue of emerging communities and try to find opportunities for partnership with these exciting new kehillot which are furthering the range of action of our Masorti Jewish values in the most unexpected of places.
