WHEREAS Jews have served faithfully in the military, participating in the support and defense of the United States; and
WHEREAS Jewish members of the armed forces of the United States serve their country in distant locations, helping to bring peace to such places as Korea, Somalia, Kosovo, the Arabian Peninsula, and Central America.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that members of the Rabbinical Assembly through their congregations, schools and other institutions reach out to military installations in their communities, opening their doors to Jewish service members in providing membership, home hospitality and others forms of hakhnasat orhim; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rabbinical Assembly encourage our seminaries to provide opportunities for students to explore opportunities in the military chaplaincy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members of the Rabbinical Assembly educate their congregations about the contributions of Jews in the military and to acknowledge these contributions through means such as the inclusion of prayers for Our Country in t'fillot and Birkat Hamazon.
