Whereas the State of Israel is the spiritual homeland of the Jewish People;
Whereas the citizens of Israel find themselves under physical attack on a daily basis;
Whereas the Rabbinical Assembly stands with the State of Israel and with its people in these troubled times as always;
Whereas the members of the Rabbinical Assembly and the leadership of the Masorti Movement in Israel serve as a crucial source of spiritual support to many Jews in Israel and to the special Israel emergency campaign of the United Jewish Communities.
Therefore be it resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly call upon its members to encourage congregants and others associated with the Conservative/Masorti Movement to:
- provide a significant increase in financial support for the Masorti Movement in order to help it secure Israel's spiritual future;
- promote study in Machon Schechter, the Conservative Yeshiva and other institutions in Israel;
- encourage tourism and extended visits to the land of our ancestors and of our descendants; and
- continue to promote aliyah and aid in aliyah efforts.
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly commend its members who have assisted the United Jewish Communities and the North American Federation system in raising $340 million in the last year to provide direct relief to victims of terror, and support for programming to aid all segments of Israeli society;
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly commend the Conservative synagogues and rabbis that have assisted in achieving investment of more than $125 million in State of Israel Bonds and encourage the continued support of Israel through these investments; and
Be it further resolved that the Rabbinical Assembly commend the United States Government for its continuous, steadfast support for the only democratic state in the Middle East.
