Emily Hendel, Director of Career Services, JD

Ms. Hendel has been with the Rabbinical Assembly since 2014. She has been working in the Career Center for 4 years and has a passion for helping people find fulfilling work. She recently completed the Facilitating Career Development Course and is working on her Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) Credential. She received a B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology from the University of Florida. She went on to Brooklyn Law School, where she received her J.D. in 2013, was admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars and practiced civil defense litigation before joining the RA Staff. She has also been a fitness instructor for 10 years and counting and has a side business styling hair.

Rabbi Ilana Garber graduated from the Double Degree program of List College (Talmud) and Barnard College (Religion) in 2000, and received her MA from the Wm. Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education in 2003. She was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2005, and immediately became an active volunteer in our RA (co-chair of Women’s Committee, served on Nominations Committee, Convention Committee, Zera’im: Seeds of our Future) while serving as Rabbi and Rabbinic Director of Lifelong Learning & Community Engagement at Beth El Temple (West Hartford, CT) from 2005-2020. A visionary Jewish educator, she created SULAM (Seek, Understand, Learn, Act, Marvel) in a complete overhaul of Beth El Temple’s religious school. Passionate about the mikveh, she wrote the curriculum to train mikveh guides for Boston’s Mayyim Hayyim: Living Waters Community Mikveh. Currently she serves on the boards of Greater Hartford’s Mikveh Bess Israel and the Hartford Region’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Jennifer Stofman is The Director of Synagogue Consulting at USCJ.  Prior to coming to USCJ in 2012, Jennifer served as the Program Director and Associate Executive Director of Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She also served as the first Director of the Ramah Day Camp in Elkins Park, PA from 1996 - 2000. Jennifer has spent the last 20 years as a Jewish Communal Professional and has experience in congregational programming and fundraising, public relations and advertising, membership recruitment and retention, leadership development and both formal and informal Jewish education. Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Jewish Studies and English Literature from Drew University and a Master’s Degree in Jewish Education and Jewish Communal Studies from Gratz College.
