A summary of our recent Pastoral Letter: Not new policy, but an articulation for its reasons and a call for renewed and deeper welcome for ALL couples and families who seek a home in Conservative/Masorti communities!
We hope that this letter finds you beginning a new year feeling renewed, strengthened, and inspired by the sacred days of Tishrei. We are pleased to share with you the fruits of a project that began several months ago as part of ongoing conversations taking place among the Rabbinical Assembly, the Jewish Theological Seminary, the Ziegler School of Rabbinical Studiesand the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Recognizing that our Conservative/Masorti community around the world is undergoing many discussions on the topic of intermarrying couples, we set about to articulate a shared statement on this subject of utmost importance to our communities.
