Whereas recognizing and supporting the ongoing efforts of the government of the United States and the Security Council of the United Nations together with many countries around the world that are concerned by Iran’s goal of achieving complete nuclear capabilities and that are taking steps to stop their nuclear program;

Whereas Iran has rebuffed requests from the international community to halt its nuclear development program;

Whereas a nuclear Iran poses a threat to many countries in the world, the international economy and world-wide oil markets;

Whereas the Rabbinical Assembly passed resolutions in 2007 and 2008 expressing our concern over the threat of a nuclear armed Iran;

Whereas the regime of Iran has demonstrated anti-Semitism repeatedly, publically and shamelessly and has called for the destruction of the State of Israel;

Whereas Iran funds and provides material support for Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations around the world;

Whereas it has taken brutally repressive acts against its own citizens to quell any threats to its hegemony;

BACKGROUND
The Rabbinical Assembly is already on record stressing the need for the United Nations and individual countries to act to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear capability.
Recently, the United States issued a National Intelligence Evaluation which is equivocal at best. It utilizes such language as having “moderate confidence” that Iran’s weapons program is not underway and at the end of its report indicates the ease with which its nuclear weapons program can be activated.
